10-1-1: STREET GRADES, SIDEWALK LINES:
   A.   All grades or elevations hereafter established by the village or which are hereinafter fixed or referred to shall be measured from and have reference to a datum or horizontal plane which is six hundred sixteen and seventy six one-hundredths feet (616.76') below the top of the southeast corner of the iron plate at the base of the southeast leg of the village water tower located on lot 3, block 1, Gardner's Addition to Minooka, and which plane and bench mark are hereby established.
   B.   In establishing grades, the elevations fixed at various points and known as street grades shall be the grades of the curbing at said points; the center of the roadways of streets shall also coincide or conform to such grades; only varying therefrom with the necessity of proper drainage and according to the location of the summits and inlets in pavements.
   C.   Sidewalk grades, unless otherwise especially provided for by independent plots and ordinances, shall also conform to and be coincident with, the established curb grade on any street at the curb line, and shall have a slope or rise of one-third of an inch (1/3") for every foot (1') of horizontal distance measured from the roadway face of the curb to and towards the adjacent property line.    D.   The inside of a sidewalk shall be parallel to and one foot (1') from the adjacent property line. (Ord. 1926-3, 10-26-1926; amd. 1997 Code)
   E.   In no case shall a grade be given for the building of any sidewalk in the village until such grade is established by ordinance in the manner herein provided. (Ord. 1926-3, 10-26-1926)
