8-1-1: MEMBERS, DUTIES:
   A.   The village president and members of the board of trustees, police chief and any police officer or special police officer appointed at any time by authority of the village president shall constitute the police department of the village. It shall be the duty of each member of the police force to enforce all village ordinances relating to the preservation of the peace, health, good order and quiet of the village and to prosecute all violations of all village ordinances.    B.   There is hereby established the position of one deputy chief in the village of Minooka. The deputy chief position shall be an exempt rank immediately below that of chief. The deputy chief may be appointed from any rank of sworn, full time officers of the village's police department, but must have at least five (5) years of full time service as a police officer in said department. A deputy chief shall serve at the discretion of the chief and, if removed from the position, shall revert to the rank held immediately prior to appointment to the deputy chief position.    C.   There is hereby established the position of police department administrator in the village of Minooka. The police department administrator position shall be an exempt rank immediately below that of chief. The police department administrator shall be an appointment by the chief of police, and may be removed from office in accordance with the personnel policy manual. The compensation of the police department administrator shall be determined from time to time by the board of trustees. The police department administrator shall assist the chief of police in the administration and operation of the police department, and shall perform such other law and nonlaw enforcement duties as may be directed from time to time by the chief of police.    D.   All part time police officers shall serve for such term and on such conditions as may be designated by the terms of such appointment, but the number of hours a part time officer may work within a calendar year is restricted. Appointments may be revoked at any time, and part time police officers shall meet the following requirements:
      1.   Successfully completed any training mandated by the Illinois law enforcement training and standards board.
      2.   At least twenty one (21) years of age.
      3.   A high school graduate or equivalent.
      4.   Have a current and valid motor vehicle operator's license.
      5.   Not convicted of a felony or any other crime involving moral turpitude.
      6.   Submit fingerprints to the chief of police for a formal background check by the Illinois state police and federal bureau of investigation, and pass said background check. (Ord. 2012-13, 6-26-2012)
