A. Position Created: The position of the building inspector for the village is hereby created. The building inspector shall be a full-time employee of the Village.
B. Hiring and Oversight: The building inspector shall be hired by and report to the Village Administrator.
C. Duties: Duties of the building inspector shall include administration and enforcement of the building code for the village. The building inspector shall have the authority to issue building permits, certificates of occupancy and stop work orders. The building inspector shall further have the authority to inspect and examine structures and properties within the Village to determine if zoning or other code violations exist.
D. Action on Applications: The building inspector shall not issue any permits or certificates of occupancy provided for in this chapter without first having received the applicable fees for that permit or certificate. In the event an applicant for a permit or certificate, as provided for in this chapter, is in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter, including the provisions regarding the payment of fees, with regard to any property in the village, then the building inspector may withhold issuance of that permit or certificate until the applicant complies with the applicable provisions of this chapter. The violations of this chapter, as described above, may relate to the property for which the permit or certificate is being requested, or may relate to any other property located in the village.
