7-2-3: PURPOSE:
   A.   Minidoka County, herein referred to as "county", recognizes the increased demand for alternative and renewable energy. Wind energy is an alternative energy resource that offers economic benefit with minimal impact on the environment.
   B.   The purpose of this chapter is to provide a regulatory scheme for the construction and operation of wind turbine systems (WTS) in the county. Subject to reasonable restrictions, these regulations are intended to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of the public, assure that any development and production of wind generated electricity in the county is safe and effective, facilitate economic opportunities for local residents, promote the supply of wind energy in support of alternative energy potential and other such economic development tools, and ensure operation of WTS in the county is consistent with sound land use planning.
