The owners of all the buildings within the Municipal limits abutting on streets are hereby required to mark the numbers of their buildings in a succession of numbers in accordance with this chapter and as directed by the City Engineer in keeping with the plat now prepared and on record in the Engineer' s office. Such numbers shall be placed over the front doorway or in a conspicuous place on the front of each building.
