(a) The village wants to provide a safe workplace for all of its employees by deterring substance use that can negatively affect the workplace. This Drug-Free Workplace Program applies to all employees as well as the village’s contractors and subcontractors, and the consequences stated herein apply to all who violate the policy.
(b) While all employees are accountable for conducting themselves in compliance with this Policy, the village will provide support for employees who voluntarily seek help. However, employees who do not come forward, and then test positive for drug or alcohol use in violation of this Policy will be subject to appropriate action up to and including termination of employment.
(c) Employees will receive information about substance use as a workplace problem, signs and symptoms, dangers of use, and how and where to get help for themselves and their families. The village’s Drug-Free Workplace Program Administrator will coordinate drug and alcohol testing, identify resources to assist employees, and arrange for employee awareness education and supervisor training.
