(a) Police officers, sometimes referred to as patrol officers, shall be appointed by the Mayor as provided in R.C. § 737.16. The Mayor is hereby authorized to appoint a police officer to be a full-time police officer. Such full-time police officer shall be entitled to all the benefits of full-time personnel.
(b) Police officers shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and may be suspended or removed from office in accordance with R.C. § 737.19.
