371.12 SKATEBOARD AND SKATE RIDING RESTRICTED.
   (a)   No person shall ride or operate a skateboard or skates on any public street, highway, roadway or alley.
   (b)   No person shall ride or operate a skateboard or skates on any public property or on a sidewalk within a business district of the City.
   (c)   No person shall ride or operate a skateboard or skates on any privately owned off- street parking facility offered for public use on which signs are erected prohibiting such use.
   (d)   Skateboards or skates may be ridden or operated on sidewalks in areas zoned residential so long as they do not infringe on or interfere with the safety of vehicular or pedestrian traffic.
   (e)   As used in this section, “skateboard” means any vehicle or device capable of being operated or ridden by a person and consisting of a board, plank or platform mounted on wheels or rollers, whether propelled by gravity, muscle power or mechanical means, which is not equipped with a positive, mechanical means of steering such vehicle or device. As used in this section, “skates” includes roller skates, roller blades and in-line skates.
   (f)   Any parent, guardian or other adult person having the legal custody of a minor who violates any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. On a violation by a minor, the skateboard or skates may be impounded and held by the court until final disposition of the case at which time they shall be returned to the parent or guardian. The skateboard or skates may be forfeited by the court upon a second violation of this section by a minor within one year. (Ord. 95-1640. Passed 6-6-95.)
