(a) If a position is reclassified as a result of a position audit, the employee shall retain certified status if such reclassified position is within the same classification series as the position previously held.
(b) Refusal to accept a classification change pursuant to a position audit results in the employee retaining his current status and classification. However, the appointing authority shall either assign the employee to a position with duties commensurate with the employee's classification, or the appointing authority shall abolish the former position and follow the layoff provisions of these rules.
(c) An employee who chooses not to accept a classification change under the provisions of this section shall notify the Civil Service Commission and the appointing authority within ten days or receipt of notice of the classification change.
