Where the Civil Service Commission determines that the positions which have been classified under any one title include a greater variety of duties and skills than could be tested by a single uniform examination, it shall establish parenthetical sub-titles to indicate the specialized nature of positions within the general classification. Parenthetical sub-titles shall not operate to alter the pay range assignment of any employee. Provisional employees shall be subject to any examination developed for the parenthetical sub-title to which they are assigned. Parenthetical sub-titles shall be part of the classification series to which the parent title belongs.
