911.02 SIDEWALK REGULATIONS.
   (a)   Sidewalks Required. On the advice and consent of Council, there shall be constructed and provided on each lot or parcel of land improved by a building, or parking lot, for any occupancy or use as defined in the Building Code, sidewalks along all roadways adjoining the lot or parcel of land, except where the grade of such a lot or parcel of land along the roadway would make it prohibitive, or where the width of the right of way would make it impossible. In such event, the Building Inspector should be properly notified in writing, and permission may be obtained from the Zoning Board of Appeals to proceed with the advice and consent of the City Engineer to the safety and benefit of the citizens.
      (1)   Residential area. Sidewalks in residential areas shall be at least four feet in width located one foot from the property line and shall conform to the existing grades.
      (2)   Business area. Sidewalks in business areas shall be at least five feet in width located on the property line and shall conform to existing grades and widths of adjacent walks.
   (b)   Specifications. New sidewalk, repairs to existing or replacement of existing walks shall be constructed in accordance with the design and construction standards approved by Council.
