The width of the grade on the streets or avenues of the city shall not exceed 33 feet, having 16.5 feet of grade or road bed on each side of the center of the street or avenue on all such streets and avenues which are 66 feet wide, and 24-foot grade on all streets or avenues under 66 feet in width; leaving a grade or road bed on each side of the center of such streets or avenues of 12 feet, and grade or road bed not to exceed 40 feet in width on streets or avenues of 80 feet or more wide, leaving a grade or road bed of 20 feet on each side of the center of such streets or avenues, except Main Street in the city according to the original plat thereof.
