6-2-8: EMERGENCY ACTION:
If the governor proclaims that a disaster emergency exists in the event of actual enemy attack upon the United States or the occurrence within the state of Illinois of an explosion of atomic or other means from without or by means of sabotage or other disloyal actions within, or from fire, flood, earthquake, telecommunications failure or other natural or technological causes, it shall be the duty of the village ESDA to cooperate fully with the state EMA and with the governor in the exercise of emergency powers as provided by law. A local disaster emergency within the village may be declared only by the president of the board of trustees. The emergency shall not be continued or renewed for a period in excess of seven (7) days except by and with a favorable vote of a majority of the corporate authorities of the village. Any order or proclamation declaring, continuing, or terminating a local disaster emergency shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the village clerk.
