The City Attorney shall have the duty to advise city officials on all legal matters pertaining to the business of the city and to discharge such other duties as are ordinarily performed by the City Attorney of a city of the fifth class. When required to engage in litigation, or employed to other work not usually performed by a City Attorney, he or she shall be paid such additional compensation as the Council in its discretion may fix.
