An employee who holds a full-time position with the city on the effective date of this chapter shall:
(A) Have permanent status on the effective date of the revised provisions if he or she held the position throughout the previous 6 months; or
(B) Not have permanent status unless he or she has held the position for 6 months preceding the effective date of this revised chapter.
