6-2-5: KEEPING OF EXOTIC ANIMALS:
It shall be unlawful for anyone to own, harbor or permit at large, any exotic animal without the written permission of the village board. Such permission shall be given only if it is demonstrated to the satisfaction of the village board that the animal will not constitute a threat to public health or safety. An "exotic animal" is defined as follows: any live monkey, alligator, crocodile, cayman, raccoon, skunk, fox, bear, sea mammal, poisonous snake, poisonous or venomous reptiles or insects, member of the feline species other than domestic cat (Felix domesticus), member of the canine species other than domestic dog (Canis familiaris) or any other animal that would require a standard of care and control greater than that required for customary household pets sold by commercial pet shops.
