§ 37.162 PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS, TRAINING, LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION.
   (A)   Certain positions of employment with the city require professional membership, licensure, and certification. In general, the city will cover all costs of memberships, training, examinations, or renewal of licenses and certifications that directly relate to the employee's current position with the city.
   (B)   Employees shall notify their department director of any memberships, training, certifications, and licenses that may be covered under this policy by April 1 so that appropriate steps can be taken to include these costs in the annual departmental budget. An employee shall not expect the city to pay or reimburse the employee for the cost of any membership, training, examination, license, or certification unless it has been approved in advance by the department director and the Mayor and included in the city budget.
   (C)   An employee's department director shall determine the relevancy of the membership, training, examination, license, or certification as it relates to the employee's current job functions or job functions that the employee is expected to undertake in the foreseeable future.
