All persons now or hereafter employed by the town in the classified service shall be allocated to one of the classes established by the position classification plan, and they shall be entitled to the compensation specified for their respective positions in the comprehensive pay plan, and they shall be entitled to the benefits and subject to the conditions provided in those plans and elsewhere in this chapter.
