The Mayor is given the authority to assign hours of duty for members of the Police Department in addition to and beyond those hours on duty on their regularly scheduled shifts of work.
Members of the Police Department shall be compensated for such additional hours of duty at the prevailing hourly rate for extra police patrolmen.
A record of the number of such additional hours and the reasons therefor shall be maintained by the Chief of Police, for each member of the Police Department. A report of such additional hours shall be submitted to Council at a regular monthly meeting.
