(a) When Municipal records have been approved for disposal, a list of such records shall be sent to the Auditor of State. If the Auditor of State disapproves of the action by the Records Commission, in whole or in part, the Auditor of State shall so inform the Records Commission within a period of sixty (60) days and the specified records shall not be destroyed.
(b) Before Public Records are disposed of, the Ohio Historical Society, the Middlefield Historical Society and the Geauga County Historical Society shall be informed and given a minimum of sixty (60) days to select for their custody such Public Records as they may consider to be of continuing historical value. In the event of a dispute regarding custody of selected documents, the Middlefield Historical Society shall be given first preference, the Geauga County Historical Society shall be given second preference, and the Ohio Historical Society shall be given third preference.
