549.10 CARRYING AND/OR DISCHARGING FIREARMS.
   (a)    No person shall discharge any air gun, rifle, shotgun, revolver, pistol or other firearm within the corporate limits of the Village.
   (b)    No person shall carry and/or discharge any loaded air gun, rifle, shotgun, pistol, revolver, or other firearm upon any lands owned, operated or controlled by the Village without first having obtained a permit from the Mayor or Chief of Police or upon any commercial business or industrial property within the Village designated as such by the official Zoning Map of the Village.
   (c)    Upon application to the Mayor or Chief of Police, a permit may be issued to qualified applicants if the Mayor or Police Chief finds all of the following apply:
      (1)    The applicant is not otherwise prohibited by law from acquiring, having, carrying or using a firearm;
      (2)    The applicant is age twenty-one or over, and is a natural person;
      (3)    It appears that the applicant has sufficient competence to safely acquire, possess, carry or use the firearm, and that proper precautions will be taken to protect the security of the firearm and ensure the safety of persons and property; and
      (4)    It appears that the firearm will be lawfully acquired, possessed, carried and used by the applicant for a legitimate purpose.
   (d)    This section does not apply when firearms are used in self-defense, in the discharge of official duty or when otherwise lawfully authorized.

   (e)    Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.
