The provisions of this chapter regulating the operation, parking and standing of vehicles shall apply to all authorized emergency vehicles, except that a driver of any authorized emergency vehicle may park or stand notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter, when that authorized emergency vehicle is being used for an emergency purpose.
