At the beginning of each year the City Manager shall submit a list of officials whose term will expire during the calendar year to Council; to the appropriate department head, if any; to the Chair of the board or commission containing members whose term will expire during the calendar year; to the Interview Committee; and to such other parties the City Manager deems appropriate. Such list shall include the name of the board or commission, the name of the member and the term.
Annually, the City Manager shall solicit applicants for boards and commissions through certain media outlets, including, but not limited to, newspaper advertisement, the Civic Focus newsletter, the Internet, and Government Access Television. Interested persons and current members of boards and commissions shall complete the applications designated by the City Manager's office. Applications shall be submitted to the Interview Committee. The Interview Committee shall review the applications and conduct such interviews as it deems necessary. During such interview, if any, an applicant shall be advised of any rules and regulations applicable to the board and/or commission for which the appointment is sought. The Interview Committee shall submit its recommendations for appointments to fill any vacancies in board and/or commission membership slots to Council. Council shall, by a majority vote and after review of the Interview Committee's recommendation, make such appointments it deems in the best interest of Miamisburg.
The City Manager shall notify the successful applicants of their appointment and when to appear for their orientation session and/or first meeting of the board or commission to which they were appointed.
The Chair of each board and commission shall schedule an orientation session and be responsible for informing the new appointee(s) of their duties and responsibilities in addition to providing them with the necessary materials to fulfill such duties and responsibilities.
The City Manager shall provide for and keep updated a Board/Commission directory. Such directory shall be updated upon a board or commission receiving a new appointment. Such directory shall contain at minimum the names and terms of members serving on each board or commission.
