258.03 IMPRISONMENT; CREDIT FOR TIME SERVED; EMPLOYMENT OF PRISONERS.
   (a)   Where a fine may be imposed in whole or in part as punishment for a misdemeanor, including a violation of a City ordinance, and the Municipal Judge has authority to order that the defendant stand committed to the City Jail until the fine and costs are paid, the Court may order that such person stand committed until such fine and costs are paid or secured to be paid or until he or she is otherwise legally discharged. Persons so imprisoned shall receive credit upon the fine and costs at the rate of thirty dollars ($30.00) per day. (ORC 2947.14)
   (b)   A person committed to the City Jail may be employed at labor for City work as directed by and under the supervision of the Police Chief. Eight hours shall constitute a day's work by such prisoner. No prisoner shall be abused, misused or mistreated by anyone having the custody of such prisoner while such prisoner is engaged in work. The City, not having a workhouse located therein, shall have the power to work all prisoners as provided herein. (Ord. 609. Passed 5-4-48.)
