1042.05 SEPARATE WATER METERS FOR PROCESS EQUIPMENT AND OTHER WATER USES.
   If a lot, parcel of land, building or premises discharging sewage, industrial wastes, water or other liquids into the City's sewerage system, either directly or indirectly, is a user of water supplied by the City and the quantity of water used is measured by a water meter acceptable to the City Manager, then, in each such case, the quantity of water used, as measured by such meter, shall be used to determine the sewer charge or rental as provided in this chapter.
   (a)   Water used for process equipment, and certain other water uses which do not return contaminated water to the sanitary sewerage system, shall not require payment of a sanitary sewer rate, provided that such water is separately accounted for by a separate meter.
   (b)   The installation and location of separate water meters for other than processing equipment shall be approved by the City Engineer or his or her agent, provided that the water used exceeds 7,000 cubic feet during any one month.
   (c)   The installation and location of separate water meters for other than processing equipment water use, which other uses shall be as defined by the City Engineer or his or her agent, shall be approved by the City Engineer or his or her agent.
   (d)   The City shall provide a separate water meter up to two inches in size, provided the consumer installs the same to the satisfaction of the City and pays the standard water rate for the size of the meter installed.
   (e)   It shall be the responsibility of the consumer to initiate requests for separate metering as provided under this section.
