SECTION 2.501.  LAND DISCONNECTED BY CORPORATE AUTHORITIES; PROCEDURE.
   Any territory which is upon the border but within the boundary of the Village of Mettawa may be disconnected from the Village in the discretion of the President and Board of Trustees as follows:
   A.   A written petition, signed by owners of record representing a majority of the area of land in such territory, shall be filed with the Village Clerk, requesting that the specified territory be disconnected from the Village.  The petition shall be filed at least thirty (30) days before it is considered by the President and Board of Trustees.  The petition shall be accompanied with the certificate of the Clerk of Lake County, showing that all Village taxes or assessments due up to the time of presenting the petition are fully paid.
   B.   The President and Board of Trustees, in their discretion, may disconnect the territory from the Village by an ordinance passed by a majority of the members of the President and Board of Trustees.
   C.   A copy of the ordinance disconnecting territory from the Village, certified by the Village Clerk, shall within ninety (90) days be filed for recordation in the Lake County Recorder's office and with the Lake County Clerk.
