ORDINANCE NO. 2007-18

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A SUPPLEMENT TO THE CODE OF METROPOLIS FOR THE CITY OF METROPOLIS, ILLINOIS

   WHEREAS, American Legal Publishing Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio has completed the FIRST supplement to the Code of Metropolis for the City of Metropolis, Illinois; and

   WHEREAS, American Legal Publishing Corporation has recommended the revision or addition of certain sections to the Code of Metropolis which are based on or make reference to sections of the Illinois Municipal Code and Illinois Compiled Statutes; and

   WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Legislative Authority to accept these updated sections in accordance with the changes of the law of the State of Illinois; and

   WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for the usual daily operation of the municipality and for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and general welfare of the municipality that this ordinance take effect at an early date;

   NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council and Mayor of the City of Metropolis as follows:

Section 1.   That the FIRST supplement to the Code of Metropolis of the City of Metropolis, Illinois as submitted by American Legal Publishing Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio, and as attached hereto, be and the same is hereby incorporated by reference as if set out in its entirety.

Section 2.   Such supplement shall be deemed published as of the day of its adoption and approval by the City Council and Mayor and Clerk of the City of Metropolis is hereby authorized and ordered to insert such supplement into the copy of the Code of Metropolis kept on file in the Office of the City Clerk.

Section 3.   This ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health, safety an general welfare of the people of this municipality, and shall take effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
