925.01 SEPTIC TANKS.
   There is hereby established, a schedule of minimum standards and requirements for existing and new septic tanks for connection to the Village Wastewater Treatment System, and as follows:
   (a)   Minimum Standards for Existing Septic Tanks.  
      (1)   Septic tanks are intended and must operate to remove solids as sludge and provide a place of storage of these solids.
      (2)   Septic tanks must be accessible for cleaning and maintenance. Each tank shall have a 10" riser or larger to the ground surface and a proper fitting lid.
      (3)   Septic tank size must be capable of retaining solids for four years without any carryover into the Village Wastewater Treatment System.
      (4)   Septic tank must be structurally sound masonry construction or plastic.
   (b)   Minimum Requirements for New Septic Tanks.
      (1)   Single systems shall not be smaller than 1,000 gallons, and must be capable of retaining solids for four years without any carryover into the Village Wastewater Treatment System.
      (2)   Septic tanks must be installed by installer licensed in Fulton County, Ohio, unless it is installed by the homeowner.
      (3)   A permit to install a new septic tank is required, and the tank must be inspected by the Village prior to installation.
      (4)   When possible, the tank should be 10' from lot or right-of-way lines; 10' from occupied buildings and water service line. The inspector will determine what will be acceptable when this is not possible.
      (5)   A fee of thirty dollars ($30.00) will be charged for any new septic tank installation unless it is replacing an existing tank for which there is no fee.
   (c)   Penalty. Any person, entity or corporation violating any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a minor misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00). Each and every day during which such violation continues may be deemed a separate offense.
