2-8-3: COMPOSITION OF COMMISSION:
A historic preservation commission is hereby created, consisting of seven (7) members. Of the membership, one shall be a registered architect, one shall be a historian qualified in the field of historic preservation, one shall be a licensed real estate broker, one shall be an alderperson, and three (3) shall be citizen members. Each member shall have, to the highest extent practicable, a known interest in historic preservation. The alderperson shall be appointed annually by the common council. The mayor shall appoint the remaining commissioners subject to the confirmation by common council. Of the initial nonalderperson members to be appointed, two (2) shall serve a term of one year, two (2) shall serve a term of two (2) years, and two (2) shall serve a term of three (3) years. Thereafter, the term for each member, other than the alderperson, shall be three (3) years. (1975 Code Ch. 21 § XXXII)
