A. Fire Limits Boundaries: All that part of the city as designated in subsection 9-3-1A of this title. (Ord. 2010-05, 6-7-2010)
B. General Building Requirements:
1. Remodeling Frame Buildings: No permits will be issued for any remodeling of any frame building or part of frame building within said fire limits unless such remodeling will be in conformity with the requirements for new buildings within said fire limits. No frame building shall be constructed or removed to any other place within said fire limits; nor shall any building within such limits which may hereafter be damaged to the extent of fifty percent (50%) of the present value thereof be repaired or rebuilt; nor shall such buildings where the damages are less than fifty percent (50%) of the value thereof be so repaired as to be raised higher than the highest point left standing after such damage shall have occurred, or so as to occupy a greater space than before the damage thereto. 2. Frame Building Defined: A "frame building" shall be taken to mean a building or structure of which the exterior walls, appurtenances or portion thereof shall be constructed of wood; or a building sheeted with boards, and veneered with four inches (4") or less of stone, brick or concrete, and wood frame covered with metal, whether or not the frames are sheeted with boards.
3. Exceptions: No frame building or structure shall be erected or enlarged within the fire limits except the following:
One-story frame buildings for the use of builders, stands, platforms, booths and tents erected under temporary permits. Such structures shall be removed as soon as they have ceased to serve the original purpose for which they were permitted.
4. Wisconsin Commercial Building Code: All buildings hereafter erected within the fire limits shall be of type IIIB construction with primarily masonry veneer and shall have noncombustible roofs or roof assemblies classified as a minimum of class B. Buildings affected by the Wisconsin commercial building code shall be permitted to contain not more than ten percent (10%) of an exterior wall surface area of fire retardant treated wood as defined in the Wisconsin commercial building code.
