In this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise, the following words and terms shall have the following meanings:
CONSUMER: The owner or occupant of any real estate supplied with water through pipes from the mains of said utility.
CONTRACTOR: Any person, firm or corporation, consumer, his agents or tenants, aside from the utility, its superintendent or regular employees, who does any work upon or performs any services requiring the use of water from the utility's mains or which is likely to interfere in any way with, or make any contact with, any water mains or appurtenances of the water supply and distribution system.
MAINS: All supply pipes used for carrying water in streets or utility easements.
OFFICE: The Office of the Water Utility in the City Hall.
PREMISES: Any building used or occupied for any purpose, or any part of a building with the land appurtenant thereto, when sold as a separate unit.
SERVICES: The pipe extending from the main to the premises served.
SUPERINTENDENT: The individual appointed to superintend and oversee said utility under direction of the Director of Public Works.
UTILITY: The Menomonie Water Utility, a public utility owned by the City of Menomonie, Wisconsin. (1975 Code Ch. 4 § I)
