Any unclaimed personal property coming into the possession of the city may be disposed of by the city as follows:
A. Sale At Public Auction: Upon being held by the city and unclaimed by the owner thereof for a period of six (6) months, such property shall be sold by the city at a public auction to the highest bidder. Notice of such sale shall be published in the designated legal newspaper of the city at least ten (10) days prior to the date of such sale, and shall contain a general description of the property to be sold as well as the time and place of sale. B. Use By City: In lieu of a public auction sale, any of such unclaimed personal property may be appropriated to the use of the city upon approval of such appropriation by the city council. (1981 Code 912 § 1)
