A. Officials: The chief of the fire department, the assistant chief, and the fire marshal shall be appointed by the city council, which body shall, in making such appointments, take into consideration the recommendations of the city administrator and the members of the fire department. Each of said officers may be removed by the city council only for cause after a public hearing.
B. Firefighters: Firefighters and probationary firefighters shall be appointed by the council, which body shall, in making such appointments, take into consideration the recommendations of the city administrator. Firefighters may be removed by the city council only for cause after a public hearing. (1981 Code 101 § 2)
