It shall be unlawful for the owner of any residential rental structure or residential rental unit who has received a notice of violation of any ordinance of the city, to transfer, convey, lease or sell, including by land contract, his or her ownership and/or interest in any other way to another, unless such owner shall have first furnished the grantee, lessee, vendee, or transferee a true copy of any notice of violation and shall have furnished to the Building Official a signed and notarized statement from the grantee, vendee, lessee or transferee acknowledging the receipt of such notice of violation and acknowledging legal responsibility for correction of the violation.
