§ 13.1.14 CARRYING OF WEAPONS AND FIREARMS.
   (A)   Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes § 943.13(1m)(c)4, no person shall enter or remain in any part of a building owned, occupied or controlled by the City of Medford if notified not to enter or remain in the building while carrying a weapon or firearm.
   (B)   Definitions. For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      (1)   FIREARM. A weapon that acts by force of gun powder.
      (2)   LAW ENFORCEMENT. Any person employed by the State of Wisconsin or any political subdivision of this state, for the purpose of detecting or preventing crime and enforcing laws or ordinances and who is authorized to make arrests for violations of the laws or ordinances he or she is employed to enforce.
      (3)   WEAPON. A handgun, an electric device as defined by Wisconsin Statutes § 941.24, or billy club.
   (C)   In addition to the provisions of Wisconsin Statutes § 175.60 enumerating places where the carrying of a weapon or a firearm is prohibited, including exceptions thereto, it shall be unlawful for any person other than law enforcement to enter the following buildings owned, occupied or under the control of the City of Medford while carrying a weapon or firearm:
      (1)   Chamber of Commerce.
      (2)   City Hall.
      (3)   Fire Hall.
      (4)   Library.
      (5)   Public works.
      (6)   Swimming pool.
      (7)   Wastewater treatment facility.
   (D)   Signs meeting the requirements of Wisconsin Statutes § 943.13(2)(bm)1 shall be posted in prominent places near all entrances of such buildings listed in division (C) of this section providing notice that no person is to enter or remain in any such building while carrying a weapon or firearm.
   (E)   Any person who enters or remains in any City buildings owned, occupied or under the control of the City of Medford listed in division (C) of this section contrary to such signage shall be considered a trespasser subject to penalty as prescribed under Wisconsin Statutes § 943.13.
