(A) The county routinely monitors usage patterns for its email/internet communications. The reasons for this monitoring are many, including cost analysis/allocation and the management of the county’s gateway to the internet. All messages created, sent or retrieved over the county’s email/internet are the property of the county and should be considered public information.
(1) The county reserves the right to access and monitor all messages and files on the county’s email/internet system. Employees should not assume electronic communications are totally private and should transmit highly confidential data in other ways.
(2) Passwords and sign-on access codes shall not be shared with anyone including coworkers, family members or other unauthorized personnel. A county employee will be designated as system administrator for email/internet purposes.
(B) The county shall abide by KRS Ch. 61, Personal Information Security Procedures, and the commonwealth’s Department for Local Government guidelines on reasonable security and breach investigation procedures and practices for personal information whether in electronic or paper formats.
