§ 35.31 FIRE CHIEF.
   (A)   The nonelected office of Fire Chief is hereby established and created.
   (B)   The Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council, pursuant to KRS 83A.080, and may be removed by the Mayor at will.
   (C)   No person shall be appointed or act as the Fire Chief unless such person has taken the oath required by the Constitution of the Commonwealth § 228.
   (D)   (1)   Subject to the executive authority of the Mayor and the rules and regulations promulgated by the firefighters and approved by the Mayor, the Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department shall be responsible for the organization and operation of the Volunteer Fire Department
      (2)   Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department shall supervise, direct, and control the equipment of the Volunteer Fire Department and the firefighters in their response to fires and the extinguishment thereof, and the plans, preparations, procedures, practice, and training in regard thereto, and may, as Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department, perform, or cause to be performed, all other actions authorized by law, ordinance, or regulation.
