A. Required: No permit for the construction of a new single-family residence shall be issued and no new single-family residence may be constructed unless at least a one car garage (either attached or detached) is included in the plans and specifications in such residential construction. No occupancy permit for such residence shall be issued until such garage is completed. A carport shall not satisfy the garage requirements of this section. When an attached garage is sought to be converted to habitable living space, a new substitute garage must be constructed prior to the issuance of a conversion permit.
B. Size: No garage shall be smaller than twelve feet (12') wide by twenty feet (20') deep, with a door opening no less than nine feet (9') wide by seven feet (7') high.
C. Maintenance: All single-family residences constructed with a garage shall be required to continue to maintain a garage. In the event that a required garage is damaged or destroyed the property owner shall obtain a building permit for repairs or a replacement garage within one hundred eighty (180) days.
