161.17 TELECOMMUNICATIONS POLICY.
   The Village of McDonald is committed to providing an environment that encourages the use of telecommunication equipment as an essential tool to support the Village’s business, but not private or personal business. It is the responsibility of each employee to ensure that this technology is used for proper business purposes and in a manner that does not compromise the confidentiality of proprietary or other sensitive information.
   (a)   Limit of Policy. The Telecommunications Policy shall apply to the use of Village owned or leased telecommunications equipment used by Village employees. It does not extend to the use of personal telecommunication equipment of individual employees while off duty.
      (1)   All employees issued any telecommunication equipment shall make efficient use of the telecommunication equipment within the guidelines in the telecommunication contract.
   (b)   On Duty Use of Personal Equipment. Personal telecommunication equipment may be used during on duty hours where as such use may enhance or benefit that employee’s productivity. We would encourage its use during breaks, lunch hours, or family emergencies.
   (c)   Binding on All Employees. All employees shall abide by the procedures set forth herein when using telecommunication equipment owned or leased by the Village or supplied by the employee.
   (d)   Abuse and Discipline. Abuse of employees owned or Village owned telecommunication equipment during on duty hours may be subject to disciplinary actions. Any employee who violates the provisions of this policy with respect to use or abuse of Village equipment shall be subject to discipline, up to and including discharge, consistent with the Village’s existing policy.
