161.10 POLICE UNIFORMS.
   (a)   It is hereby determined the regular police officer’s year round standard uniform shall be that uniform prescribed by the Police Committee of Council in cooperation with the Chief of Police. (Ord. 2307-83. Passed 3-15-83.)
   (b)   There is hereby created a police uniform fund into which there shall be paid each year a sum not to exceed five hundred fifty dollars ($550.00) for each regular member of the police force with a two and one half percent (2 ½%) inflationary increase per year for each of the next five years beginning 2003. (Ord. 2906-02. Passed 4-17-02.)
   (c)   Newly appointed members of the Police Department shall be paid an initial clothing allowance of four hundred dollars ($400.00) upon completion of their probation period and the regular allowance of four hundred dollars ($400.00) thereafter on their anniversary date.
   (d)   When a uniform as above described, or any part thereof must be purchased or, upon the written findings and recommendation of the Chief of the Police Department that it must be replaced by reason of ordinary wear or the hazards incident to police work, the Mayor and Clerk, with the approval of the Chairman of the Finance Committee, may purchase for each police officer from funds appropriated to the Police Uniform Fund, uniforms or any part thereof at a cost not to exceed four hundred dollars ($400.00) in any year.

   (e)   Effective June 1, 2002, such annual payment shall be appropriated and paid in the amount of twenty-six cents ($.26) per hour for all actual hours worked per year to all special part- time police with a two and one half percent (2 ½%) inflationary increase per year for each of the next five years beginning 2003. No payments shall be made unless the employees, whether full- time or part-time, work a minimum of 100 hours per calendar year and are still employed by the Village of September 1, of that year.
