161.04 HOLIDAYS.
   (a)   (1)   There is hereby established ten paid holidays for the full-time actively working officers and employees in the Village, which shall be as follows:
 
New Year’s Day
Labor Day
Presidents’ Day
Thanksgiving Day
Good Friday
Day after Thanksgiving
Memorial Day   
Christmas Eve
Fourth of July   
Christmas Day
      (2)   The Christmas Eve holiday shall be the period from 3:00 p.m. to midnight of December 24. No full-time employee shall receive holiday pay while on sick leave, except if he, or she, has worked at least one day during the pay period in which the paid holiday occurs. Persons on military leave shall not be considered actively employed.
      (3)   All part-time employees who actually work the holiday shall be paid time and a half for hours worked. (Ord. 2576-91. Passed 4-3-91.)
   (b)   Full-time firemen and/or policemen who work the Sunday following Good Friday shall receive pay and/or time off benefits provided for in subsection (e) hereof.
   (c)   The Clerk shall pay Holiday pay in the pay period which the same accrues.
   (d)   An officer or employee who does not work a paid holiday shall be paid for eight.
   (e)   In the event an officer or employee works a paid holiday, he shall be paid, in addition to the paid holiday, one and one-half times for the hours worked at his regular salary or hourly rate, excepting, however, that such officer or employee shall have the option to take a day off at a later date as agreed upon by the employee and the department head. In the event such officer or employee elects to take a day off, he shall be paid, in addition to the paid holiday, one extra day’s pay at his regular salary or hourly rate.
   (f)   In the event a full-time firemen works a paid holiday, he shall be paid for twenty- four hours worked on such paid holiday and an additional eighteen hours at his regular hourly rate, excepting, however, that a full-time fireman may, at his option, elect to take twenty-four hours off at a subsequent date as agreed upon by the fireman and the department head. In the event a full-time fireman elects twenty-four hours off at a later date, he shall be paid for the twenty-four hours worked on such paid holiday and an additional twelve hours at his hourly rate.
   (g)   New employees hired after the passage of this section will receive paid holidays after six months of full-time satisfactory service. (Ord. 2143-77. Passed 7-19-77.)
