(a) The full-time firemen and driver operators shall serve a six-months satisfactory probationary period upon receiving an original appointment.
(b) The probationary period, as set out in subsection (a) hereof, shall not pertain to full- time firemen or driver operators, formerly known as assistant firemen, who have satisfactorily served six months in such positions prior to the effective date of this chapter.
