§ 171.016 AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICERS.
   (A)   There is hereby established the position of auxiliary police officer for the Village Police Department.
   (B)   The position of auxiliary police officer is hereby deemed to be an officer in the Village Police Department and as such said officer will have the same powers and duties as the part-time and full-time police officer. They shall work a minimum of 16 hours per calendar month, under the command of the Chief of Police or his or her designee.
   (C)   Auxiliary police officers shall be volunteer and only workers compensation benefits will be offered by the village, upon approval of the Chief of Police that said auxiliary police officer is certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC). The auxiliary police officer is not a permanent employee of the village, no state retirement is being paid for them, and that as temporary employees they may be discharged at any time with or without reason by the Chief of Police.
