§ 34.06 POWERS AND DUTIES OF COMMISSION.
   (A)   The Commission on Community Relations, as authorized agent for the Village, shall be primarily responsible for insuring compliance with the terms of this chapter.
   (B)   The Commission is authorized and shall:
      (1)   Adopt, promulgate, amend, and rescind rules and regulations to effectuate the policies and provisions of this chapter;
      (2)   Receive, initiate, investigate, and seek to adjust complaints filed with the Commission under the provisions of this chapter and in accordance with rules and regulations adopted by the Commission and approved by the Board of Trustees;
      (3)   Evaluate compliance of Village contractors and suppliers with respect to this chapter prior to the letting of bids and with periodic reviews of compliance during any contract period, with full authority to examine relevant books and records of Village contractors and prospective contractors;
      (4)   Insure compliance of Village contractors and suppliers with this chapter and insure that they are "equal opportunity employers," as provided for by federal law and federal executive order, and to insure their compliance with the requirements and obligations of any applicable state or federal law, including but not limited to Article 2 of the Human Rights Act (775 ILCS 5/2-101 et seq.);
      (5)   Work in conjunction with the Village officers and employees in insuring compliance with this chapter;
      (6)   Lend all reasonable assistance to Village contractors and suppliers in complying with the nondiscrimination and affirmative action provisions of this chapter;
      (7)   Issue such publications and results of investigations and research as in its judgment will tend to promote good will and minimize or eliminate discrimination because of race, sex, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, age unrelated to ability or physical or mental handicap unrelated to ability.
