§ 118.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a separate meaning.
   TAXICAB. Any vehicle operated by or on behalf of a taxicab company which is used to transport passengers for hire to or from a destination as directed by the passenger at rates of fare which are recorded and indicated by a taximeter.
   TAXICAB COMPANY. A person, partnership unincorporated association, corporation or other entity doing business in the Village which owns, operates or leases taxicabs in the Village, or has taxicabs operated on its behalf in the Village. A taxicab company shall be considered to be doing business in the Village if vehicles operated by it or on its behalf transport passengers for hire on trips which originate within the corporate limits of the Village.
   TAXIMETER. A mechanical instrument or device by which the charge for hire of a taxicab is mechanically calculated, either for distance traveled, or for waiting time, or for both and upon which such charge shall be indicated by means of figures.
