§ 31.04 DISCONTINUATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PLAYGROUNDS AND RECREATION.
   As of June 11, 2007, the operation and staffing of the Department of Playgrounds and Recreation as one of the regular departments of the Village was discontinued due to the passage of a referendum on November 7, 2006 that approved the expansion of the corporate boundaries of the Maywood Park District through annexation to match the corporate boundaries of the Village. The effect of the referendum is that the Maywood Park District would offer the recreation activities and operate and maintain recreation facilities for the benefit of the residents of the Village. For purposes of repaying an inter-fund loan made by the Village's General Fund to fund past annual budgets of the Department of Playgrounds and Recreation, the Village will continue to levy approximately $200,000 per year as part of its annual property tax levy until the inter-fund loan is paid in full.
