Means of ingress and egress in the form of steps or ladders shall be provided for all private residential swimming pools. At least 1 such means of ingress and egress shall be located on a side of the pool at both the deep and shallow end of the pool. Treads of steps and ladders shall be constructed of nonslip material and be at least 3 inches wide for their full length. Steps and ladders shall have a hand-rail on both sides. For above ground type pools, whether temporary or permanent, ladders or steps or devices used for entering the pool must be removed to a minimum distance of 5 feet from the pool when the pool is not being used.
