§ 72.33 PARKING FOR HANDICAPPED.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle in any public parking area posted “No Parking Except Handicapped Persons” or bearing the international symbol indicating a handicapped parking restriction except a vehicle which has registration plates designated for handicapped persons as provided in 625 ILCS 5/3-616. The registration plates must be displayed on the vehicle parked in the designated area.
   (B)   Upon request of a handicapped person who has been issued a Certificate of Registration pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/3-616, a parking space in the street adjacent to the residence of the handicapped person shall be designated by official sign of the Department of Public Works as reserved for handicapped persons. No person shall park a motor vehicle in the space so designated unless it bears special registration plates issued pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/3-616.
   (C)   Any person who violates this section shall be fined as set forth in § 39.99 of this Code.
