For the purpose of this chapter, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
VACATION RENTAL. A dwelling unit or portion thereof offered for overnight lodging on a temporary basis to paying guests in no more than two guestrooms for a period not to exceed 30 consecutive days to any person other than a member of the owner's family. VACATION RENTAL owners may, but are not required to, live in the VACATION RENTAL during the periods when the property is rented. The term VACATION RENTAL shall not include hotels or motels or bed and breakfast establishments, nor shall it include "house swapping" where a homeowner switches or trades homes with another homeowner in a different town for a short period of time for a vacation and no money is exchanged.
