§ 30.01 PRESIDENT.
   (A)   Board of Trustees President. The President shall be President of the Board of Trustees as provided by statute. The President may also be referred to as Mayor of the Village.
   (B)   Duties and powers. The President is the official head of the Village. They shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Trustees. They shall have such other duties and exercise such other powers as may be provided for by statute or ordinance.
   (C)   Bond and oath. Before entering upon the duties of office the President shall give a surety bond conditioned upon their faithful performance of their duties, in the sum of $3,000. The President shall take the oath of office prescribed by statute and shall receive such compensation as may be set from time to time by the Board.
   (D)   Appointments. The President shall appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees, those officers who they are authorized by statute to appoint; and whenever a vacancy occurs in any office which by law they are empowered and required to fill, they shall within 30 days after the happening of such vacancy, communicate to the Board the name of their appointee to such office, and pending the concurrence of the Board in such appointment, they may designate some suitable person to discharge the functions of such office; provided, however, that no temporary appointee shall hold any office for more than 60 calendar days. A temporary appointee holding office for 60 calendar days shall not be able to succeed themselves at any time thereafter nor hold the same or like office except upon the express majority vote or consent of the corporate authorities.
   (E)   Removal of officers. Except where otherwise provided by law, the President shall have the power to remove any officer appointed by hem on any formal charge whenever they are of the opinion that the interests of the Village demand such removal. They shall report the reasons for such removal to the Board at a meeting to be held not less than 5 days, nor more than 10 days after such removal. If the President shall fail or refuse to file with the Clerk a statement of the reasons for such removal or if the Board, by a two-thirds vote of all its members authorized by law to be elected, by “yeas” and “nays,” to be entered upon its record, disapprove of such removal, such officer shall thereupon become restored to the office from which they were removed, but they shall give a new bond and take a new oath of office. No officer shall be removed a second time for the same offense.
   (F)   Signature. The President shall sign all Village warrants, commissions, permits and licenses granted by authority of the Board, except as otherwise provided, and such other acts and deeds as law or ordinance may require their official signature.
   (G)   Peace officer. The President may exercise within the Village limits the powers conferred upon sheriffs by law to suppress disorder and keep the peace.
   (H)   President Pro-Tem. During the temporary absence or disability of the President, the Board shall elect one of its number to act as President Pro-Tem, who during the absence or disability of the President shall perform the duties of the office.
   (I)   Compensation. The President shall receive as compensation the amount of $8,400 per year payable in biweekly increments of $323.08. Any President first assuming the duties of office following election or re-election in April, 2009 shall receive as compensation $15,600 per year payable in biweekly increments of $600.
